ABSTRACT

The major risk factor for suicide is mostly an untreated and frequently undiagnosed mental disorder. Dr Anitha Gautam will be talking about hidden epidemiology of suicide in India during COVID -19 pandemic. In India, for the past 5 years the number of deaths due to suicide has increased from approximately 1.3 lakhs in 2017 to 1.65 in 2021 (Suicide rate increasing from 9.9 to 12 per 1,00,000 population).
